Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialist – ICRC

Job Summary: The ICRC is regularly faced with challenges related to weapon contamination. Such contamination can be of a conventional or a non-conventional type (CBRN)) and include unexploded or abandoned ordnance, landmines, weaponised, or industrial toxic agents.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that weapon contamination related needs are effectively understood by the management team and accurately relayed to the Regional Weapon Contamination Manager
  • Ensure that the ICRC and Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement remain engaged with relevant national bodies, processes, and activities.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the weapon contamination situation in their area of responsibility and provide ICRC management with hazards identification and risk assessments of the likely impact of weapon contamination on staff, operations, and civilians in affected areas.
  • Develop and maintain Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other guidelines for ICRC EOD related activities.
  • Lead all aspects of ICRC EOD operations including survey, data management, planning, prioritisation and task implementation.
  • Provide ICRC reports to authorities by providing post-strike weapon technical forensic assessments of specific locations.
  • Provide training, mentoring, orientation and support to ICRC and Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement staff and national mine action structures and provide lessons learned from programmes to further develop and improve weapon contamination operational policy at the institutional level.

Aerobiology Research Technician- Alaka’Ina Foundation 

Job Summary: Laulima Government Solutions, LLC is looking for a qualified Aerobiology Research Technician to support our contract with USAMRIID. A Bachelor’s degree in biology is required along with 3-4 years of experience. The location of the job is at Fort Detrick, MD.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide laboratory support by performing aerosol exposures and animal research protocols as directed by Aerobiology Leadership.
  • Execute scientific studies, analyze data, and maintain laboratory space and equipment.
  • Generate, characterize and sample biological aerosols to support pathogenesis and medical countermeasure studies against biothreat agents. This shall include animal plethysmography, aerosol supervision and assisting, assaying, and decontaminations; attendance is required at scheduled training provided by qualified division staff.
  • Investigate independently, and in collaboration with others, events during the phases of infection in representative laboratory animals before and following agent exposure. Support all technical aspects of animal protocols.
  • Perform assays to include viral and bacterial stock characterization, plating assays, ELISA, RT-PCR, microarray, and cytokine analysis as required by approved in vivo and in vitro protocols.
  • Perform clinical pathology evaluation to include hematology and clinical chemistry analysis in support of approved animal protocols.
  • Maintain laboratory space and equipment. Record and document all equipment maintenance IAW USAMRIID SOPs and in compliance with GLP standards.

The Equipment Specialist is responsible for maintenance and operational support of all equipment and areas needed for the manufacture of parenteral pharmaceuticals at the Baltimore Camden fill/finish facility.
